2. Clinton Norris EDWARDS
was born on 9 Feb 1932 in Relief, Mitchell County, NC.
Graduate of Tipton Hill High School - Attended ETSU for special courses.
Employed by ET&WNC Transportation Company and East Tennessee &
Western North Carolina Railroad Company in Johnson City, TN
from 6 Jun 1950 thru 31 Dec 1977 as Corporate Secretary and Assistant
Treasurer. Employed as Director of Business,
Finance and Purchasing with Bristol Tennessee School System on 1 Jan 1978.
Member of Johnson City TN Optimist Club for period 1965-1977. Awarded Distinguished
President Award during his 1970/71 year. He was awarded the Distinguished Lieutanant
Governor Award of Tennessee District during 1971/72 year. Officer of Johnson
City TN Little League in early 1960's. He was a member of the Tennessee
Association of School Business Officials, the Southeastern Association
of School Business Officals and of ASBO, the International
Association of School Business Officials.
He was valedictorian of the graduating class of 1950 at Tipton Hill High School in Mitchell County NC. At the Bristol TN
School System, he supervised and directed the first computer system to be
installed in that system.
He married Bergie PETERSON on 20 Sep 1952 in Erwin TN. Their first home was located
at 1305 E. Chilhowie Ave., Johnson City TN. They lived at that location from
October 1952 until March 1964. They moved into their new home at 1200 E. Ninth
Ave., Johnson City on 26 Mar 1964.
Clinton retired 100% on 30 Jun 1995 after working 45 years and 24 days.

It is with great sadness that I report the unexpected and sudden death of my beloved wife Bergie on October 23, 2005. We had been happily married for over 53 years. Our entire family consisting of myself, 2 daughters and their spouses, 3 sons and their spouses, 7 grandchildren, a great grandchild, Bergie's mother who will be 101 years old in January 2006 and a brother. Please remember our family in your prayers.

3. Bergie PETERSON
Bergie was born at Poplar, NC (Mitchell County)
on 29 Dec 1932 to Isaac and Roxie PETERSON. She was the second and youngest child. Her brother,
L. J., was born 28 Oct 1929 and they grew up together in the Flat Branch
section of the Poplar Township in Mitchell County.
Bergie attended Poplar Elementary School from 1939-1947 and Tipton Hill
High School thru 1950.
Over the years, she and husband Clinton were able to travel to a
variety of places on vacation and business. Some of the more interesting
places were: Nashville, Chattanooga and Memphis, TN.; Myrtle Beach
and Charleston, SC.; Atlanta, GA.; Daytona Beach, Orlando, Tampa and
St. Petersburg, FL.; Birmingham and Mobile, AL.; Biloxi and Hattiesburg,
MS.; Baton Rouge, LA.; Houston, San Antonio and Dallas, TX.; Tulsa and
Oklahoma City, OK.; Little Rock, AR.; Lexington and Louisville, KY.;
Frederick, MD.; Amish Country, Lancaster and Intercourse, PA.; and
Williamsburg, VA. In October 1990 they attended the International ASBO
convention in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. During this trip they visited Niagara
Falls, NY, Montreal, Quebec, Canada and the State of Vermont from the extreme
Northern part (St. Albans) to the far Southeastern (Bennington) section and
many of the villages between.
After her retirement on 30 Jun 1995, she and Clinton along with
brother-in-law Wendell and wife
Mary Nell Edwards took an extended vacation trip to the Northeast visiting
New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut, Massachusetts
and Pennsylvania.
