| Ivanhoe was a unique dog. He was called the "miracle dog of Brentwood Manor."
There was a cranky distraught verbally abusive resident of a nursing home in Burlington, Ontario.
Ivanhoe went to visit (with his mother ... not shown) monthly. The first visit, he interacted with Ivanhoe and when they were leaving he was in a corner crying and told Georgie about his late wife and "Brownie" his wonderful chocolate Standard Poodle. The second visit Dog and Mother were met in the lobby, by a nurse who told how the resident in question had made this miraculous change. He was close to being polite, almost friendly, in other words about 180 degree switch from his former self. He had been asking about Ivanhoe and wanted to know when he would be visiting again. From that visit on he always waited and greeted Mother and Dog and became a special friend. The gentlemans nature changed and he started getting along with staff and resident alike. There was even a picture of the two of them in the local paper. |
