The Robertson family Bible, published by the American Bible Society, dated 1878, was passed down to their youngest daughter, Hortense, who married Judson Rice Lanier, and they passed it on to their only son, Judson, and is now in the possession of his widow, Joyce Lanier, of Anchorage Alaska.
Both front and back covers are missing as well as Genesis through parts of the book of Exodus in the Old Testamant. Of the New Testament, all is missing past chapter eight of the Gospel of John. The pages between the Old and New Testaments contains the family record of births, marriages, and deaths.
Passed along with the Bible were photographs, including the one on this page. Written on the back of the photograph is the date 1918, which is thought to have been the date when it was taken. Therefore, Christopher Henry would have been age 61 and Theodosia Annie would have been age 58.
By his handwriting, it is evident that Christopher Henry Robertson, recorded his and his wife's marriage dates, their births, and their children's births, except for Buna and Hortense. Hortense probably recorded these, and the deaths of her brothers, sisters, and parents. Hortense's husband recorded her death date.
