Holy Ghost Baptism

Why, I Believe in the Holy Ghost Baptism:

1. John the Baptist said, Jesus would baptize in the Holy Ghost and fire. [Matthew 3:11,] I indeed baptize you with water for the repentance: but he that cometh after me is mighter than I,whose shoes I am not worthy to bear; he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire.

2. Jesus said, to receive you the Holy Ghost. [John 20:22,]And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

3.Jesus in leaving instructed them to tarry in Jerusalem until they were endured with power from on high. [Luke 24:49,]And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

4.Jesus after the resurrection, told them tarrying that they would receive power after that the Holy Ghost would come upon them.[ Acts 1:8,]But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

5.The day of Pentecost has come all desiring are filled with the Holy Ghost with speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance.[ Acts 2:1-4,]And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.2. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.3. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.4. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

6.Jesus endorses speaking in tongues. [Mark 16:17,]And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues.

7. Peter endorses speaking in tongues, Gentile conformation of receiving the Holy Ghost Baptism. [Acts 10:46-47,] For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, 47. Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

8.Paul endorses speaking in tongues. [1 Corinthians 14:18,] I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all: [1 Corinthians 14:5]I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied; for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the Church may receive edifying.[1 Corinthians 14:39,]Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.

9.Have you received the Holy Ghost, since you have believed in Jesus the Christ? [Acts 19:1-6,] And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus; and finding certain disciples,2.He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him,We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.3.And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.4. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is on Christ Jesus.5. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

10.[Jude 20,] But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost. How to build up one's faith by praying in the Holy Ghost. By association, when praying and the Holy Ghost are mentioned for the most part there is speaking in tongues.[ Romans 8:26,]Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

11.The Holy Ghost was promised to those at Pentecost and to their children and as many as the Lord would call.[Acts 2:39,]For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call [Acts 2:38,] Then Peter said unto them, Repent,and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.[John 7:38-39,] He that believeth on me, as the scriptures hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39.{ But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.}

12.Do all speak in tongues, probably not, Paul had seen in starting churches those that would not receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost. [1 Corinthians 12:30,]Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? [Acts 18:25-26,]This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligentily the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.26. And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.Apollos was mighty in the word of God, yet there was more that was told to him by the co-labors of Paul, the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

Conclusion: I believe the Bible has much to say about the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. I have to draw this conclusion from scripture that Jesus promised us as believers a comforter in the Holy Ghost, that we should receive as believers.
