Upside down bird

I'm Kiwi, the senegal parrot, and I hatched in May, 1997. I was a handfed baby. Humans say that handfed baby birds are more social and bonded to their owners. I know it's true because I love my humans! I want to be on them at all times. I can get from my cage to mom's lap no matter where she is in the house. (That is, when my cage is open).

See how I'm hanging upside down from mom's foot? That's because I like to play. There are many games I like to play. The bell on top of my cage is lots of fun. And I really like to throw my ball off the playstand and make mom and dad go get it for me. It's also lots of fun to chew up wood. I like to shred the rungs on my ladder one by one till they're all gone. Then dad will get me another ladder and I'll start again.

I don't say any words yet, but that could change. Senegals aren't especially good talkers. I can make all sorts of sounds, like my R2D2 immitation, the microwave oven, and telephone buttons. I'm still not very good at saying human words. I like to say 'shut up!' when the dogs start to bark. Mom knows what I'm saying, but she thinks other humans wouldn't be able to understand what I said. Picky picky!
