From farmers in Scotland to a new life

The Anderson Family

Anderson of Kinneddar Hunting Tartan

William Anderson, born 1762, was a prosperous farmer in Kinneddar, Morayshire, Northeast
Scotland.  He followed 600 years of Andersons in farming a quantity of land (the landlord was Alexander Brander) and employed servants to help with the work. William's wife was from Forres, Mary Sutor(Sutter). His son, Lewis Anderson (one of 11 siblings) left a safe and secure home to come to America........Lewis' brother, John Anderson, a doctor, supposedly was caught digging up graves and fined 1,000 pounds. After that John left and went to India. (I think I would have left, too!)

Pioneers in the Oil Business"

Charles Orson Anderson was my father.  He entered
the oil business and was responsible for new exploration
and drilling all over central New York
(Cortland, and that whole valley) before moving on to the new
discoveries in Oklahoma and Texas.  He traveled
and worked with his brother, Earl J. Anderson.

C. O. And E. J. even tried the automobile business instead of drilling for oil in Mexia, Texas during the oil boom there.
