Like the Kingsleys, the Hall family kept moving farther and farther into the unknown. Starting in England, immigrating to Connecticut,
going to Western New York in the early 1800's
eventually ending up in Nebraska.......
Hall family lore tells of David Hall, who was born in 1756 and fought in the Revolutionary War. David Hall's experience was written up in a children's history book, "America First", written by Lawton B. Evans and published in 1920, a tale of killing an indian during guard duty. This story was repeated many times by the family. David was a SGT. serving from CT. He married Ann Jackson and lived in the Fairfield area of CT. David passed away in August of 1824 in New York.
David's son was Philo Shelton Hall, b. 1801 in Ct. Philo married Orilla Kingsley. Philo had a son, David born in 1821 in Wethersfield, Genessee Co., New York. This David Hall was my GGFather. They moved to Burton (now Allegany) New York in 1835 along with his father, Philo, and uncles Cyrus, and Luther W Hall. David was 13 at the time. He married Amanda Garrison
Cyrus'Fire!
Soon after coming to Burton tragedy struck! The Hall brothers
had built shanties for shelter and one night while they were away,
a fire destroyed the shanty and killed four children. The children apparently belonged to Cyrus who never had more.
The Halls lived on West River Road at the Two Mile. Several homesteads were together there as were the Andersons.
