Taken from a booklet titled DESCENDANTS OF JOHN AND WILLIAM FIFE 
copywritten 1979 by: John V. Murphy.  The original was written in 1890 
by Joseph Vance, as a descendant booklet for a FIFE family reunion.
"John and William Fife were born in Fifeshire, Scotland.
With a brother whose name is suppose to have been
Matthew, they emigrated to County Tyrone, Ireland.  In 1756
John Fife came to Winchester, VA, and in 1766 to Upper St.
Clair (PA).
William Fife came to this country in 1769, and bought 
lands adjoining those of his brother John.
John was born in 1721, and died Nov. 19th 1800.  His
wife's name was Margaret Wright.
William died in 1799.  The maiden name of his wife can-
not be ascertained."

Matthew Fife stayed in Ireland and died there at age 100 
years.  Many of Matthew's grandchildren immigrated to the 
United States.

James Fife was born June 24, 1764, Fifeshire Scotland. 
He immigrated with his family to the St. Clair area of 
Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.  He married Mary McGowan.  
One son was Ebenezer Fife born November 16, 1808 in PA.
Ebenezer moved to Peters Creek area of Washington County PA 
where he purchased a large farm.  He married Margaret McCormick.  
They had three children. 
James  Fife born December 22, 1837, Peters Creek, Washington, PA
Eliza Jane  Fife born March 23, 1842, Peters Creek, Washington, PA
Alfred E. Fife born August 15, 1852, Peters Creek, Washington, PA
Alfred was my Great Grandfather.
