Our Colorado and Nevada HomesOur Buena Vista, Colorado HomeOur house is located three miles west of Buena Vista at 8,200 feet. We are bordered by several mountains of the Collegiate Range that are over 14,000 feet high. Middle Cottonwood Creek is 40' from the back deck. The tall cottonwoods shade the entire house and in the fall are covered with golden leaves. A short drive takes you on side roads that have remnants of ghost towns or to the various well stocked lakes in the area. To see "Moby Deck" click here
Our Ruth, Nevada Property and ViewThis view of our Ruth lot on Sunshine Street is looking toward the one-block long business section of the tiny town before we moved a doublewide trailer onto the site. We own almost every sagebrush you see. We have planted two 12' trees, fifty small saplings, and three bush type rose bushes on the property in 1996 for the future. The elevation is a little over 7,000 feet. The BHP Copper Mine is located one mile West of Ruth and is the "Home of the Largest Open Pit Mine in Nevada. "The large 200' high mass of copper tailings to the center and left is scheduled to be extended by the BHP Copper Mine all the way to the back right of this photo within the next few months. This will create an artificial mountain abutting up to houses and property on the south side of Ruth, a very small village of about 200 homes. This view of Ruth also shows all of its few businesses on Main Street. The New Ruth Club and the Commercial Club, (both are neighborhood bars), the Ruth (DeLeon) Town Convenience Store, gas station and car wash, and post office. There is one RV Park and two Laundromats. And one public telephone booth. Shopping is done in Ely, NV located about 7 miles from Ruth, by catalog, or traveling 200 miles to the nearest town that is large enough to have a WalMart. Information and pictures for Ely, Nevada and Ruth, Nevada can be found here.
