Pets we have known and loved

The gray mare in the lead in the Pony Race at a Buena Vista, Colorado Rodeo is named "Misty." Patricia Jo McDonough is jockeying her to the winner's circle. Misty had stopped three times during the race to greet her fans in the grandstand but still won the race. Tim Stange is riding the Shetland pony named "Cocoa" to a second place finish. There were four horses in the race, all belonging to the Shaputis family.

The small Pekinese mix dog is "Bailey." She was about four years old in 1989, when we got her at the Dumb Friends League in Denver, CO. She had been grossly abused and it took 1 and 1/2 years to establish trust with humans and now she associates people with good things to eat and does her best to look cute whenever anyone visits.

Bailey died in 2000 and was buried in the yard in Buena Vista, CO
