George Prohonas was born March or August 1896 on the island of Kos, in Greece. His parents were: Theodore Prohonas and Freuchie Fow. George emigrated to the United States on: July 12, 1912 and arrived in NY on July 20, 1912 he sailed from Patras on the Kaiser Franz Josef I. He moved to Youngstown, Ohio (Mahoning County). He married Julia Jean Gonda in Youngtown, Ohio on Nov. 30, 1921. George died Feb. 22nd, 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio. He died as a result from being pushed down the stairs of the Allerton Hotel in which he worked. He died when his new baby Son Nick was one month old. The rest of the Prohonas family remained in Cleveland. George Prohonas and Julia (Gonda) Prohonas had 2 Daughters: Sophia Prohonas and Frances Prohonas. He also had two sons: Theodore Prohonas and Nick Prohonas. George was believed to have a sister or two that came to the United States but I have not found any information on them.
