I wonder what will happen
to us when our families can't
take care of us anymore?

I guess we can go live with Frank and Diana and make lots of new friends at the For The Sake of Animals Shelter. For a small monthly donation, we can be lovingly cared for for the rest of our lives, and help support our other friends and the spay program too! Can you believe it - FSA's discount spay program has been responsible for over 400 spays in the last 4 years!! All you have to do is send your check to: For The Sake of Animals, PO Box 1013, Mena, Arkansas, 71953, and you can purchase a spay certificate for $40.00 for a cat and $50.00 for a dog. If need be, you can arrange to make payments of whatever you can afford - for more information call (501) 394-1039. The spay certificate will be promptly mailed back to you. Then just take your cat or dog and the spay certificate to the the Mena Animal Clinic and everything will be taken care of. You know, I just found out some neat things about spaying - I'd like to share them with you. It's some really great information from the Santa Barbara County Animal Shelter Assistance Program.
Spay/Neuter Information
Excuse - "It's just too expensive to have my pet spayed or neutered."
Reality - Pregnant pets need: Additional food, expensive veterinary care, advertising in newspapers for adoption of kittens and puppies. Many clinics offer low-cost services and financial assistance for spaying and neutering.
Excuse - "I want my children to see the miracle of birth"
Reality - The animals pay dearly for this lesson:
Only 1 out of 6 puppies are placed in a home
Only 1 out of 12 kittens are placed in a home
There are more humane methods of telling children about the birth process.
Excuse - "I'll let her have one litter first"
Reality - Having a litter before spaying does not add to a pet's personality or health. Older, unspayed dogs and cats may develop tumors and other health problems.
Excuse - "I don't want my pet to experience pain."
Reality - Modern veterinary anesthetic techniques have made spaying and neutering painless.
When we all realize the need for spaying and neutering, and just how important our retirement home is, then we can all jump for joy - just like Flippy!
