Seven Puppies!

Born in Seattle on 9-28-97

Lucky and Babe's second and last litter of puppies born 9-28-97 on the floor of the dinette of our motorhome while we were visiting with good friends and former Ketchikan residents, Budd and Judy Wright. We had planned to store our motorhome in Seattle and fly home with the dogs but the puppies came two days before we were to fly home.

Since the airlines wouldn't allow the puppies to fly until they were eight weeks old and had their shots, we were forced to bring them home in the motorhome. We talked about all our alternatives, renting a place in Seattle till we could bring them home, but who would rent to anyone with all those puppies.

Since the Canadian fishermen had boycotted the ferry terminal and dock at Prince Rupert the Alaska Marine Highway Ferry System was not going there. The only alternative was to take the ferry from Bellingham to Ketchikan, at the cost of $1,432 for the motorhome, us, the dogs and a stateroom. Luckily, the ferry service didn't charge for the tiny two day old puppies too!
