The Schulers came from Dietersweiler, a small village in the Black Forest in southern Germany. About1795, Adam Schuler left Dietersweiler and came to Sundheim where he met and married Anna Luise Eisenbeiss. Sundheim is now a suburb of Kehl on the upper Rhein river across from Strassburg France (Alsace). In 1837 Adam and his family sailed from Le Havre and arrived in New Orleans. They then went upriver and eventually settled in southwestern Illinois near St.Louis
