Hello, our names are Lynn and Doug Bates. We have lived in Winchester, KY since July 1984. We are both from the small mining community of Wheelwright Kentucky. After graduating from Morehead State University in 1966, We headed North to Detroit, Michigan to find our fortune. We lived in Taylor, Michigan from June 1966 to April 1974. A job transfer took us to Chicago where we lived in the small but beautiful town of Lake Zurich, Illinois from April 1974 to July of 1984. We had been searching for a beautiful place to live, so we moved to the Bluegrass in July of 1984.

I have been in the insurance business since 1966 and Lynn has been a domestic engineer.

We have three kids: Tim, Steve, and Tara. All are adults, married, and have families of their own. Check out their pages to find out more.

The branches of our Family Tree trace back to the McCoy family from Eastern Kentucky, since Lynn is an original McCoy. My ancestry traces back to the Bates/Webb families in Letcher County, KY which leads to George Boone and the first settlement in KY.
