Excerpts from Historical Address at the 200th Anniversary of Egypt Reformed Congregation, October 1, 1934, by Charles R. Roberts:  

"The forty families which Rev. Blumer reported as members of the congregation in 1771, I would name as follows: .....George Leibenguth, ......... Christian Leibenguth."

"Captain John Moritz was in command of the fourth company of the Second Battalion of Northampton County militia in 1778, under Lieutenant-Colonel Stephen Balliet. This battalion participated in the battle of Brandywine...... Christian Leibenguth was a Corporal in this company."

"An agreement was made May 20, 1771, between the Lutherans and the Reformed that they would unite in the support of each other's pastor. The corner-stone of the second church was laid in the spring of 1772.   Building-Superintendents were Bernard Kuntz and Peter Anthony, Lutheran; Jacob Buchman and George Leibenguth, Reformed."

George Lebengood deceased Inquest Awarded:  And command is given to the sheriff of the county of Northumberland that justly and without delay he summon and take with him twelve good and lawful men of his bailiwick and go to the lands and tenements aforesaid and then and there upon their oaths and affirmations respectively be cause the same lands to be divided into three equal parts having due respect as well to the quantity as the quality thereof and one of thou three parts (and one of those three parts the whole into three equal parts to be divided) upon the oaths and affirmations of the inquest aforesaid be assign and deliver unto Maria the widow of the aforementioned George Lebengood deceased to be holder by her as and for her dower and *** during her natural life in severalty.   And the remaining two third parts by the oaths and affirmations of the inquest aforesaid be cause to be divided into four equal parts and two of thou parts (still having due respect as well to the quantity and quality thereof) you assign and deliver unto Jacob Lebengood eldest son of the said deceased to hold to him and his heirs in severalty forever.  And one other of the those four parts in manner aforesaid you assign and deliver unto John Lebengood one other of the sons of the deceased and on other fourth part thereof in manner aforesaid you assess and deliver unto George Lebengood the remaining child of the said deceased.,.  Provided the land aforesaid can be so divided without injury to and spoiling the whole thereof, but if the same cannot be divided as aforesaid without such spoliation then command is given to the sheriff aforementioned that he cause the inquest aforesaid upon their oaths and affirmations to value and appraise the same to a just and reasonable price according to the form force in effect of the Act of Assembly in such case made and provided.

Jacob Lebengood Inquest Awards:   The petition of Peter Livengood oldest son of Jacob Livengood deceased was preferred to the court setting forth.  That the deceased died intestate since the passing of the late Act of (assembly?) for the distribution of intestate estates leaving upon seven children to wit. Peter the petitioner, Elizabeth (intermarried with Thomas Crawford), Rebecca (intermarried with Luwick Bachman), Joseph, Catherine, Polly, and Esther.  That the deceased died seized of a tract of land situated in Mahoney Township containing sixty four acres and allowance adjoining land of Martin Pinehart and Detrich Stonebrucker-and praying the court to award and inquest to *** raise the estate aforesaid according to the form **** and effect of the Act of (assembly?) in such case made and provided where upon the court on due consideration did award an inquest accordingly as prayed for by the petitioners.  And command is given to the Sheriff of the county aforesaid (Northumberland) that justly and without delay h summon and take with him twelve good and lawful men of his bailiwick and go to the lands and tenements aforesaid to describe and then in presence of the parties aforementioned  (if being by you summoned they will be present) upon the oaths and affirmations of the inquest aforesaid so by him to be summoned he shall cause the inquest aforeward.  Divide the same land and tenements into seven equal shares having due respect as well to the quality and quantity thereof, and one of thou shares upon their oaths and affirmations you assign and set over unto Peter Lebengood oldest son of the said deceased, one other share thereof unto Thomas Crawford and Elizabeth his wife late Elizabeth Lebengood daughter of the said deceased, one other share thereof unto Ludwig Bachman and Rebecca his wife late Rebecca Lebengood, one other share daughter of the said deceased –one other share thereof unto Joseph Lebengood, one other share thereof unto Catherine Lebengood, one other share thereof unto Polly Lebengood, and the remaining share unto Esther Lebengood.  To hold to them respectively in severalty forever.  Provided that the lads aforementioned can be so divided without prejudice to and spoiling the whole thereof, but if the same cannot be so divided then we command you that you cause the inquest aforesaid upon their oaths and affirmations respectively to value and appraise the same at a reasonable price according to the form force and effect of the Act of assembly in such case made and provided.

To all People to whom these presents shall come Conrad Kleintop of Ross Township in the County of Northampton and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, heir at Law of George Leibenguth of Lehigh Township in the County aforesaid Yeoman deceased, in right of his wife Susanna, who, being one of the Daughters of the said George Leibenguth and likewise, died after the death of the said George Leibenguth, send greeting---

Know Ye that the said Conrad Kleintop for and in consideration of the sum of Eight Hundred Dollars of lawful money of the United States unto him in hand paid by Peter Kuntz of Lehigh Township in the county aforesaid, Yeoman, at and before the ensealing and delivery here of the receipt whereof the said Conrad Kleintop doth hereby acknowledge and thereof acquit and forever discharge the said Peter Kuntz heirs executors and administrators by these presents hath granted, bargained, sold,, released and confirmed and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, release, and confirm into the said Peter Kuntz his heirs, executors, and administrators, all his right, title, share, portion, interest, and claim whatsoever he is entitled to in regard of his said wife of, in, and to the real estate of the said George Leibenguth decd. and monies and interests due thereof to receive, have, and hold the same unto him the said Peter Kuntz his heirs and assigns. And the said Conrad Kleintop for himself, his heirs, executors, and administrators, doth covenant, promise, grant, and agree to and with the said Peter Kuntz, his heirs, executors, and administrators by these presents that he the said Conrad Kleintop and his heirs, the said mentioned share, portion, or dividend unto the said Peter Kuntz and his heirs, shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In witness whereof the said Conrad Kleintop hath hereunto set his hand and seal the fourteenth day of February in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty. Conrad Kleintop (seal) Sealed and delivered in the presence of us - Jacob Kuntz.

Anthony, Daniel Gable in right of his wife Elizabeth, formerly Elizabeth Leibenguth, Joseph Shafer in right of his wife Sophia, formerly Sophia Leibenguth, Tobias Gable in right of his wife Hannah, formerly Hannah Leibenguth, Aaron Gable in right of his wife Sarah, formerly Sarah Miller the Granddaughter of Peter Leibenguth decd., Peter Miller and Stephen Miller Grandsons of the said Peter Leibenguth, decd. and Elizabeth Leibenguth widow and relict of the said Peter Leibenguth decd. all of the Township of Lehigh in the County of Northampton of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania being the heirs and distributees of persons interested as such in the estate of the said Peter Leibenguth late of the Township, County and State aforesaid, are held and firmly bound unto Conrad Newhardt and Henry Kress administrator and of all singular the goods and chattels, rights, and credits which were of the said Peter decd. in the Sum of Seventeen Hundred and Twenty-Eight Dollars and 67/100 lawful money of the United States to be paid to the said Conrad Newhardt and Henry Kress, their certain attorney, executors, administrators or assigns for which payment well and truly to be made we do bind ourselves our and each of our heirs jointly and severally for and in the whole firmly by their presents. Whereas the said Conrad Newhardt and Henry Kress, admr. as aforesaid have fully discharged and executed the duties of their trust and paid over to us and each of us our respective shares and portions as heirs and distributees in the estate of Peter Leibenguth late of Lehigh Township decd. out of the balance in their hands as appearing by their account filed in office of Reg. at Easton the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged. Now know Ye all Men by their presents that for the considerations aforesaid of the further Sum of One Dollar to each of us in hand paid by the said Conrad Newhardt and Henry Kress at and before the ensealing and delivery hereof, we and each of us do hereby release acquit and forever discharge the said Conrad Newhardt and Henry Kress Admr as aforesaid of and forever and each of our respective shares as aforesaid of and from our and each of our respective shares and dividends, dower, distribution, interest and claims in said estate in the hands of the administrators aforesaid and of and from all actions, suits, payments and accounts, recoverings, claims and demands whatsoever for or by reason thereof or of any other act, matter, cause or thing whatsoever in any wise pertaining to or connected with the same. And further in case any debt or debts shall or may hereafter arise, accrue and come to light against the estate of the said Peter Leibenguth decd. for the (illegible) which the said Conrad Newhardt and Henry Kress shall not have other assets in their hands to pay and satisfy then and in such case if the parties to this instrument being the heirs, distributees and persons interested as such in the estate of Peter Leibenguth decd. shall and do well and truly pay or cause to be paid such sum to the said Admrs as shall be their respective portions pro-rata and necessary for the payment of such arising and accruing claim against the estate as aforesaid. And also well and truly indemnify and keep harmless the said admrs for the payment and distribution there this obligation shall be void otherwise to be and remain in full force of virtue. In testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this twenty-first day of May, in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Forty-Six.
