Oscar's Tribute

This was Oscar, my sweet baby boy.

He was a red male Dachshund. He was 7 years old when he died of a lung disease. He was the sweetest most loving dog I have ever had and he loved me dearly. He was afraid of people he had never met. He and Chloe grew up together and they loved each other very much. They would play together and lick on each others ears. He loved to sit at the door or a window and look out into the world, I used to wonder what he was thinking. He loved plush squeeeky toys and they would drive him crazy until he poped the squeeker. Then that would be his toy and he would carry it with him where ever he went. Chloe would get it from him and tease him with it and wouldn't let him have it. He would bark and bark at her. In July 1995, tragedy struck Oscar. He went down in his back and lost use of his back legs. He had back surgeory at the University of Tennessee Vet School. He had two herniated discs and his spinal cord was badly bruised. When he came home from UT, his wonderful vet help him learn to become a spinal walker. Spinal walking is where you teach the spine to swing the legs. He went thru several months of intense therapies--hydrotherapy, standing exercises, and tail support walking. He was able to get around where ever he wanted to go and he was even able to run eventhough he had no feeling in his back end. He was an amazing dog. He was always a fighter and always wanted to please. I miss him very much and his Chloe misses him very much too. I always told him he was the best boy God ever put on the earth and to me he was. He is now on the Rainbow Bridge waiting for us. I hope you enjoy his page.

This was Oscar before he went down in his back enjoying a stroll thru the grass with a big smile on his face.
