When Someone Dies
When God
Made Mothers
When the good Lord was creating mothers,
he was into his sixth day of overtime, when an angel appeared and said,
"You're doing a lot of fiddling around on this one."
And the Lord said, "Have you read the spec on this one?
She has to be completely washable, but not plastic; have
180 moveable parts, all replaceable;run on black coffee and leftovers;
have a lap that disappears when she stands up,
a kiss that can cure anything from a broken leg to a disappointed love
affair,
and six pair of hands.
"The angel shook her head slowly and said,"Six pairs of hands...no
way."
"It's not the hands that are causing me problems," said the Lord."It's
the three pairs of eyes that mothers have to have." "That's on
the standard model?" asked the angel.
The Lord nodded. "One pair that sees through closed doors when she
asks, "What are you kids doing in there?"
when she already knows.
Another here, in the back of her head that sees what she shouldn't,
but what she has to know, and of course the ones
here in front that can look at a child when he goofs up
and say, "I understand and I love you," without so much as uttering
a word."
"Lord,"said the angel, touching his sleeve gently, "Rest
for now. Tomorrow..." "I can't," said the Lord. "I'm
so close to creating something close to myself.
Already I have one who heals herself when she is sick,
can feed a family of six on one pound of hamburger and
can get a nine year old to stand under a shower."
The angel circled the model of the mother very slowly.
"She's too soft," she sighed."But tough!" said the
Lord excitedly. "You cannot imagine what the mother can do or endure."
"Can she think?""Not only think, but she can reason and
compromise,"said the Creator.
Finally the angel bent over and ran her finger across the cheek. "There's
a leak," she pronounced.
"I told you, you were trying to put too much into this model."
"It's not a leak," said the Lord. "It's a tear."
"What's it for?"
"It's for joy, sadness, disappointment, pain, loneliness and pride."
"You're a genius," said the angel.
The Lord looked somber, "I didn't put it there."

A
Mother's Gifts
You have given me the gift of Compassion.
Your concern for others took precedence
over your own problems.
You were always able to put yourself
in their place and to feel their pain.
Your example made me recognize
the importance of human warmth and
understanding.
You have given me the gift of Friendship.
Not only were you my best friend,
but you extended your
hand in friendship to many,
expecting nothing in return.
If you saw a need, you saw a need,
you didn't wait to be asked.
I learned from you about the joy
that comes from being a friend.
You have given me the gift of Love.
Your love was unconditional and freely given.
You taught me that the capacity
to love has no limitations, that love is
a self-perpetuating gift.
Many people love you for your generosity of spirit,
but no one loves you more than I do.
I will be eternally grateful for these gifts
that have truly made my life worth living.

The
Door that Never Closes
There's a door that never closes,
thought it opens but one way ~
It's the door that leads to Heaven,
at the end of life's long day.
It's the threshold of forever,
where the heart is always glad.
It's a respite for the weary,
and a comfort for the sad.
It's the door to peace and healing,
and the door to joy and grace
Where the Master greets each guest by name
and with a warm embrace.
And the loved ones who pass through
into the light that's shining there
Find a sweet and perfect home,
within our Father's loving care.

Beyond
Life's Gateway
There's an open gate at the end of the road,
through which each must go alone,
And there is a light we cannot see,
Our Father claims His own ~
Beyond the gate your loved one
finds happiness and rest,
And there is comfort in the thought,
That a loving God knows best.

My
Dearest Family
Some things I'd like to say
but first of all to let you know
that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from Heaven
where I dwell with God above
where there's no more tears or sadness
there is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy
just because I'm out of sight
remember that I'm with you
every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you
when my life on Earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me
and He said I welcome you.
It's good to have you back again,
you were missed while you were gone,
as for your dearest family
they'll be here later on.
I need you here so badly
as part of My big plan,
there's so much that we have to do
to help our mortal man.
Then God gave me a list of things
He wished for me to do,
and foremost on that list of mine
is to watch and care for you.
And I will be beside you
every day and week and year,
and when you're sad,
I'm standing there
to wipe away the tear.
And when you lie in bed at night,
the days chores put to flight,
God and I are closest to you
in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on Earth
and all those loving years,
because you're only human
they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry,
it does relieve the pain,
remember there would be no flowers,
unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you
of all that God has planned,
but if I were to tell you,
you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain,
though my life on Earth is o'er.
I am closer to you now
than I ever was before.
And to my very many friends,
trust God knows what is best.
I'm still not far away from you,
I'm just beyond the crest.
There are rocky roads ahead of you,
and many hills to climb,
but together we can do it
taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy
and I'd like it for you too
that as you give unto the World
so the World will give to you.
If you can help somebody
who is in sorrow or in pain,
then you can say to God at night
my day was not in vain.
And now I am contented
that my life it was worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way
I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody
who is down and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up
as on your way you go.
When you are walking
down the street
and you've got me on your mind,
I'm walking in your footsteps
only half a step behind.
And when you feel the gentle breeze
or the wind upon your face,
that's me giving you a great big hug
or just a soft embrace.
And when it's time for you to go
from that body to be free,
remember you're not going
you are coming here to me,
And I will always love you
from that land way up above.
Will be in touch again soon.
P.S. God sends His Love.

Only
The Best
A heart of gold stopped beating,
two shining eyes at rest,
God broke our hearts to prove,
He only takes the best.
God knows you had to leave us,
but you did not go alone,
for part of us went with you,
the day He took you home.
To some you are forgotten,
to others just part of the past,
but to us who loved and lost you,
the memory will always last.

When
Someone Dies
When somebody
dies, a cloud turns into
an angel, and flies up to tell God
to put another flower on a pillow.
A bird gives the message back to
the world, and sings a silent prayer
that makes the rain cry.
People disappear, but they
never really go away.
The spirits up there put the sun to
bed, wake up grass, and spin the
earth in dizzy circles.
Sometimes you can see them
dancing in a cloud during
the day-time, when they're supposed
to be sleeping.
They paint the rainbows and
also the sunsets and make
waves splash and tug at the tide.
They toss shooting stars and listen to
wishes.
And when they sing windsongs,
they whisper to us, don't
miss me too much.
The view is nice
and I'm doing just fine.
