John Dorgan born c
1816 in County Cork, married Mary Ann MAHONEY born c. 1815 also in County Cork. They
married about 1840. They had four children, all born in Ireland, James born 1844, Denis
born 1848, Hanna born 1849 and Betsey born 1852. Mary Ann and the four children came from
possibly Cork City to the US in 1858 via Liverpool to Boston aboard the ship RISING SUN
which arrived in Boston August 11, 1858. John and his brothers James born c. 1820 and
William born c. 1822 (and James' wife Susan F.) are believed to have arrived in the US
before August 1858. This entire family shows up in New Auburn, Sibley County 1860 Census
under the spelling of DARGON. John and Mary Ann and children show up in 1865 MN State
census under spelling of DORGAN in Jessenland. There is no trace of James, his wife Susan
F. or William following 1860 by either spelling. Mary Ann and children were accompanied by
other DORGAN family members aboard the ship "RISING SUN" which arrived in Boston
August 11, 1858. Patt DORGAN, Margt DORGAN, Timothy DORGAN, Ellen DORGAN and infant John
DORGAN were all listed with Mary Ann and her four children. My particular line, moved from
MN in 1906 to Saskatchewan Canada. Looking for place of origin in Ireland, and any
information on the DORGAN line.
The HEITMAR name
probably originated in Germany, and then were relocated to Isztimer Hungary in 1700's as
were thousands of other German families in an attempt to repopulate this region of
Hungary. My particular line emigrated to Canada in 1927.
