Clemmie Beatrice Calton

OBITUARY

On the morning of Saturday, November 1, 1997, an angel of the Lord came quietly and relieved the pain and suffering of Clemmie Beatrice Rand-Calton.  Clemmie was born on April 25, 1924 to Henry and Parlee Rand in the city of Marietta, Texas.  Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Fort Worth, Texas and resided just east of downtown in the Riverside community.

At an early age, she accepted Christ and was baptized into the fellowship of the Paradise Baptist Church.  Clemmie would maintain a very close relationship with God.  She helped organize the fellowship of First Riverside Missionary Baptist Church.  The word of God was always a priority while she cared for her children.  During her last years, she continued the family tradition of bringing the family together on Sundays and holidays.  As a deaconess and choir member, she was very active in the church.  She served until her illness prevented her attending church.

She met Gladis Calton during her high school days which marked the beginning of a long-lasting relationship.  She graduated from Carver (I.M. Terrelll) High School of Fort Worth in June of 1941.  Having furthered her education, she became an alumni member of Jarvis College in Hawkins, Texas.  Shortly after school she married her high school sweetheart.  During their early years of marriage, Clemmie and Gladis were separated by World War II in April of 1943.  After the war, Clemmie, Gladis and Arthur Henry Calton were finally united.  Blessed many times over, Clemmie's and Gladis's family grew to 10 boys and 4 girls and all are living well today.

During her homemaker years, religion and education were always a priority.  She was active in school PTA and attended all of her children's and many of her grandchildren's activities; elementary, middle school, high school, college and military commissioning ceremonies.

After a long illness, Clemmie Beatrice Rand-Calton departed this earthly life on November 1, 1997 at the hospital surrounded by her family.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Gladis Calton of fort Worth, Texas; her sons; Arthur Henry Calton (Angie) of Highbridge, New Jersey; Donny G.
