Heckler Genealogy Information
George Heckler, son of Michael Heckler, was one of the pioneers of the Lower Salford area. George was born in the reign of Louis XV on the 26th of April, 1736 at Retchweiler, in Lower Alsace, France. This area is between the Rhine and the Vosges mountains (later annexed to Germany).
At the advice of his parents, he went to learn the tailor trade at the age of 15. He was released from his master at the age of 18. George fled to America rather then serving his 3 years as a journeyman under various masters. On September 30, 1754 George arrived in Philadelphia on ship Neptune which sailed from Rotterdam.
Young George, however, was unable to pay his fare, and was sold by the captain for three years to John Stover who lived in Coventry township, Chester county. George faithfully labored and served out his time, and ended up employed for an additional 7 years.

My Lineage Information
George married Christiana Fried (b. 30 Sep 1740 d. 6 Mar 1832 age 91) and they had a son named Peter born on 27 Dec 1770 in Hilltown, Bucks Co., PA. Peter (d. 22 Jan 1847) married Sarah Detweiler (b. 14 Sep 1782 d. 22 Mar 1851) and they had a son named Abraham Heckler (b. 13 Nov 1801). Abraham married a lady with his mom's same name as far as we can tell. This Sarah was born approximately 1804 (based on census information). The following 1850 Towamencin Township census record shows the family of Abraham Heckler and Sarah Detweiler.
Peter (b. 27 Dec 1770) and Sarah's children are: Jacob (b. 20 Dec 1800 m. Barbara Delp), Abraham (b. 13 Nov 1801 m. Sarah Detweiler), Henry (b. 12 Jan 1804 m. Susanna Johson), Joseph* D. (b. 15 Apr 1806 m. Elizabeth Yocum), Cristiana (b. abt 1808), Michael (b. abt 1810), and Sarah (b. abt 1812). *Joseph's
grandson, Charles married Sarah Detwiler.
Abraham Heckler b. 13 Nov 1801 and Sarah had the children as shown in the above census. I descend from Reuben Heckler who married Margaret Wisler (believed to descend from Jacob Wisler and Elizabeth King who lived in Hatfield Township). Reuben and Margaret had 14 children, and the oldest was Amanda Heckler (b. 4 Jul 1860 d. 29 Nov 1922) who married Nathaniel Benner on 20 Sep 1879.
