Information was obtained from Nathaniel Benner's death certificate and from 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880 census records of Montgomery County - gathered by Gerry Benner a great-great-grandson of Tobias and Mary. Based on these census records, the family was defined as:
children | when born | where born | state | died | married |
Nathaniel Benner | 2 Aug 1856 | Franconia, Montg. Co. | PA | d. 11 Oct 1942 | 20 Sep 1879 to Amanda Heckler |
Elias Benner | 1858 | Franconia, Montg. Co. | " | d. | Mary Kline |
Catharine (Katie) Benner | 1860 | Franconia, Montg. Co. | " | d. 194? | Isaac Fellman |
Samuel Benner | 18 Oct 1863 | Franconia, Montg. Co. | " | d. 24 Nov 1896 | Alice Macknet |
Joseph (or Josiah) Benner | 1869 | Franconia, Montg. Co. | " | d. |
Note: The spelling of some names are varied depending on what record you look at. Also there is a possibility that Tobias had a second marriage to another Mary between 1870 and 1880. My records indicate that this second Mary was named Mary Bookheimer b. 6 Oct 1844 d. 12 Oct 1931
My records show a death date for Mary Conver as 30 Sep 1871 making her age 36. If Tobias remarried around 1875, that would make Mary Bookheimer about age 30. So, there may be more children discovered if we examine the census record from 1890 and 1900.
The only other information I have shows that Tobias is buried in the Souderton Cemetery, and Mary Conver is buried in the Rockhill Mennonite Cemetery. It is believed that Tobias and Mary attended the Mennonite church.

The following photo circa 1914/1915 is from a family union held at Alice's house in Telford, PA. A great-grandmother wrote the names of the people on the photo itself. Alice, Walter & Raymond are in the photo along with Alice's second husband Leidy Mann Cressman.
One last thing - Thanks Stephanie!!
The following is probably completely unrelated to Tobias's family and descendents, but it was a bit of history we needed to put somewhere. So, it has been added here, just as a newspaper article from 1914. If anyone finds an early 1800s wife with a maiden name starting with A, Aaron may be related.
