Buzzsaw and the Murphy Family
1960

During one visit in 1960, Kathy and Murphy's dad brought them a dog. Buzzsaw, named after a dog owned by Barney Rubble in one Flintstones episode, stayed with us for several months until he got way too big.

Murphy's new camera was used for these photos. Its viewfinder was inaccurate, the lens was poor, and it had no real controls. Add to that children taking the photos, and you can understand why the photo qualities are somewhat substandard. But they do capture history.

By the way, the Murphy family dogs of the 1980s and 1990s were sort of named after Buzzsaw (with a little flair added to the spelling). Cinderella d'Buzzaux, called Cindy, became part of the family in 1985. California d'Buzzaux, called Callie, became part of the family in 1996. Cindy and Callie were English Springer Spaniels, as was Buzzsaw.

Kathy, Buzzsaw, and Clara near the north fence of the backyard. Notice the laundry hanging on the clothes line which went from the back porch to the barn. We did not have a clothes dryer. On rainy days, clothes were hung on lines in the basement.
