Scripture: Haggai 1:1-14, 1 Corn. 6:19

(Hag 1:1 KJV) In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying,

(Hag 1:2 KJV) Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD'S house should be built.

  1. God is tired of people saying I don't have time for God.
  2. God is tired of people making excuses why they can't serve God.
  3. God is tired of people choosing the pleasures of this world over Him.
  4. This people say
  5. I'm tired of hearing this people say why they can't serve God.
  6. God is talking about the church, it's a lukewarm church all right but he's talking to the church.
  1. This is not just talking about boards, nails, building a physical building, but its talking about the physical church, the spiritual church, His temple.

(1 Cor 6:19 KJV) What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

  1. God was not talking to them just about a physical church but also the condition of their heart.
  2. They didn't want to go and worship God they were having too much fun in the world.

(Hag 1:3 KJV) Then came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,

  1. I'm glad we are having this revival, because it has given the Lord a chance to talk to some of us.
  2. God spoke in this very sanctuary four months ago, and told us that we needed to quite playing games and serve Him or he was going to write Ichabod over our church.
  3. God spoke in this very sanctuary about two months ago and told us that he was not going to have anymore patience with us, that we had to make up our minds if we were going to serve Him or not.
  4. God spoke to us at the beginning of this revival with the same message, church its time to start rebuilding the temple of God.
  5. I'm saying that the word of the Lord has come to us and spoken like he did through Haggie.

(Hag 1:4 KJV) Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your ceiled houses, and this house lie waste?

(Hag 1:4 NLT) "Why are you living in luxurious houses while my house lies in ruins?

  1. God is saying that all they were interested in was themselves, what they could accumulate for them selves, they had fine homes but Gods house was in ruins.
  2. Sometimes isn't it funny when it comes to Gods house or Gods business what ever we have left over will do, lets clean out the basement and give to the church everything we don't want.
  3. Our time, our money, what we do, becomes more important than God. We want to only give God what's left over.

(Hag 1:5 KJV) Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.

(Hag 1:6 KJV) Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.

  1. That's all right you want to treat God that way, take a good look at yourself, having any problems.
  2. God is telling them and us if you don't build Gods house first, every thing you do is going to fall flat on its face.
  3. God will not bless it he will let it fall.
  4. People today are working themselves to death, they don't even have time to come to church anymore, or even work in the church because they can't make enough money.
  5. The problem is they are so busy building their own houses and not Gods house that God is not blessing them all their money running out as fast as they can make it.

(Hag 1:7 KJV) Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.

  1. God says it again consider your ways.
  2. Is it really worth it.
  3. God then begins to tell them what they need to do.

(Hag 1:8 KJV) Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD.

  1. The first thing you need to do is rebuild the House of God in your life.
  2. Rebuild His temple.
  3. Get the building supplies you need to rebuild His temple maybe some concrete (Holy Ghost), some prayer, a little word to make it strong, some faith to hold it together, some witnessing to make it bigger for others.
  4. You need to Build Gods House and not your own.

(Hag 1:9 KJV) Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.

  1. If you don't he reminds you that no matter what you do it's not going to work, all of your plans will dry up and blow away.
  2. God tells us that if we love this world before him and strive to gain everything in this world he will even fight against us.

(Hag 1:10 KJV) Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed from her fruit.

(Hag 1:11 KJV) And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands.

  1. It was God who fought against them.

B. GOD TALKS TO US THROUGH HIS SPIRIT LIKE THIS REVIVAL, LIKE THE WORD, LIKE PRAYER

(Hag 1:12 KJV) Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the LORD.

  1. We need to obey God church, we need to lisen to what he is telling us.
  2. We need to make up our minds one way or the other , are we going to serve Him or this world.
  3. If you hear him talking to you in these meetings, in your prayer life, through the word of God, please lisen and obey.

(Hag 1:13 KJV) Then spake Haggai the LORD'S messenger in the LORD'S message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the LORD.

  1. When we choose to obey God promises us he will be with us.
  2. Nothing can harm us, he will go through the storms of life, the valleys, the mountains.
  1. WHEN YOU OBEY IT OPENS YOU UP TO RECEIVE THE FULLNESS OF GOD.
  1. We have had some good services so far in this revival.
  2. Some of you have sought the Lord and received the Holy Spirit.
  3. When we obey we will receive everything that God has for us.

(Hag 1:14 KJV) And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God,

  1. This is what we have been experiencing in this revival.
  2. The Holy Ghost has been working around these altars every night.
  3. Children and Adults have been getting filled with His Spirit.
  4. People have been getting saved.
  1. AND THEY CAME AND DID WORK IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD OF HOSTS, THEIR GOD.
  1. If we will lisen to what the spirit is telling us and rebuild our temples, the Lords house spiritually we will begin to work in the house of the Lord.
  2. God wants us to become more than spectators, more than pew warmers, more than church goers.
  3. He wants us to become on fire full of the Holy Ghost witnesses of Christ, worshippers of God.
  4. He wants us to become spotless in our life, living a Godly life before Him
  5. He wants us to put Him first before we do anything else.

BUILD HIS HOUSE BEFORE YOU WORRY ABOUT YOURS, WORK IN HIS HOUSE BEFORE YOU WORK IN YOURS, GIVE IN HIS HOUSE BEFORE YOU GIVE IN YOURS, SACRIFICE FOR HIS HOUSE BEFORE YOU SACRIFICE FOR YOURS.

CONSIDER YOUR WAYS TONIGHT CHURCH, WHERE ARE YOU WITH GOD?
