COUNTERFEIT CHISTIANITY

Scripture:

(Rom 14:11 KJV) For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

(Rom 14:12 KJV) So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

(2 Cor 5:9 KJV) Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted[3] of him.

(2 Cor 5:10 KJV) For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

(2 Cor 5:11 KJV) Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

Example: Twenty dollar bill

A man is paid $20.00 dollars for his work, and then he uses that money to buy some food. Then the grocery owner uses that money to pay his workers and his worker spends that money on a car payment. Then the finance company uses that money to pay their loan to the bank but when they take the $20.00 dollars bill to the bank it is discovered that the $20.00 dollars is counterfeit.

a. That money has done many things, it has paid workers, has paid for food, has paid for a car but the whole time it was a counterfeit $20.00 bill.

A. One day we will stand in front of our God and God will inspect us just like the banker did the money.

a. He will look to see if we are genuine or counterfeit.

b. We may have done a lot of things but did we do them for the right reasons.

c. Did we do them for show just to make people think we were alright.

d. Did we do them because it was Gods will or just because we wanted our own way.

e. Was our lives busy serving Christ or ourselves.

B. God will be the judge if we are truly what we look like, or sound like, he will be able to tell when no one else can tell if we are really genuine or false.

A. God will reward according to your works.

(Mat 16:26 KJV) For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

(Mat 16:27 KJV) For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

(Mat 16:28 KJV) Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

I. WORKS

A. What kind of works are you producing in your life.

a. Men we are the worse ones, we are so busy making a living, providing for our families, providing for ourselves doing works.

b. But are these the works that Christ is talking about?

1. These are the works that we make ourselves so busy with, but they are not the works that Christ is talking about.

2. You may be a good welder, HVAC man, nurse, doctor, pilot, etc. but that is not what Jesus Christ is talking about.

3. He is talking about the work you do for Him.

4. Even though we are to do all things as unto Christ, to be honest, forgiving, hard working, fair, etc.

5. To many times this kind of work effects our working for Christ in the Church.

6. It is the work in the Church, in ministry, in spreading the Gospel, in showing the love of Christ to others, in leadership in our families and Churches that Christ is talking about.

c. What kind of work are you producing sir?

d. Is it for yourself, your own gain, even your own family.

e. Some people are so taken up with themselves that they can never find time to work for Christ because they are spending it all on themselves.

(Rom 2:6 NLT) will judge all people according to what they have done.

(Rom 2:7 NLT) He will give eternal life to those who persist in doing what is good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers.

(Rom 2:8 NLT) But he will pour out his anger and wrath on those who live for themselves, who refuse to obey the truth and practice evil deeds.

f. When Christ looks at your life what will he see? real or counterfeit

GOD WILL NOT ACCEPT "GOD I WAS JUST TO BUSY TO HELP OUT"

BUT HE WILL JUDGE US FOR WHAT WE DO OR DON’T DO

(2 Cor 5:10 KJV) For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

(2 Cor 5:11 KJV) Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

B. This will be a very serious judgment according to Revelation chapter 20.

(Rev 20:11 KJV) And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

(Rev 20:12 KJV) And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

(Rev 20:13 KJV) And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

(Rev 20:14 KJV) And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

(Rev 20:15 KJV) And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

a. This is of course talking about the person that is not serving Christ in His or Her life.

b. The person that knows what they should be doing but never does anything with what God has given them according to the parable of the talents.

B. So what kind of works should you be producing?

Gal 5:

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulation’s, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

(Col 1:9 KJV) For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual[6] understanding;

(Col 1:10 KJV) That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

(Col 1:11 KJV) Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

(2 Pet 1:4 KJV) Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

(2 Pet 1:5 KJV) And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

(2 Pet 1:6 KJV) And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

(2 Pet 1:7 KJV) And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

(2 Pet 1:8 KJV) For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

(2 Pet 1:9 KJV) But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

(2 Pet 1:10 KJV) Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

(2 Pet 1:11 KJV) For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

II. Today the Church needs men that are working for Gods Kingdom and not this world.

a. Promise keepers preaches Christ’s Legacy in Us.

b. You can’t leave a Legacy without living a Legacy.

c. The Legacy that God wants you to live is a Godly Legacy full of His Spirit and walking in His Will not your own.

A. The problem with this world especially the youth is the Legacy left them is the wrong kind. Ungodliness, wicked, sinful, and disobedient.

B. God needs some men to live a righteous life before our children, family, friends, boss, and neighbors.

C. The problem is there is to many counterfeit Christians leaving legacys of sin, disobedience, unfaithfulness, and hypercritical lifestyles.

1. GOD NEES SOME CHRISTIANS THAT ARE FOR REAL AND NOT COUNTERFEIT.

2. CHRISTIANS THAT ARE DOING MORE THAN JUST GOING THROUGH THE MOTIONS BUT PRODUCING GOOD WORKS FOR GOD
