BEYOND THE MOUNTAIN
Scripture:
(Mark 11:23 KJV) For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
(Mark 11:24 KJV) Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
A. God does answer prayer and we have many promises that he give us concerning problems, sickness, poverty, joy, strength to overcome, protection from Satan, dominion over Satan, gifts of the Holy Spirit, Powers to lay hands on the Sick and see them recover, Salvation of our loved ones etc.
a. We have seen God move in all of these areas time and time again.
b. But we have also waited on God and not seen the hand of God move, and we just kind of ignore it. Or make some excuse for it, or say something we think will make everyone fill better.
c. Fact of the matter is, it was an area beyond the mountain.
B. Beyond the Mountain
a. Things that are beyond the mountain
1. Gods perfect will
2. Persecutions for Christ’s sake
3. Salvation
4. Death
I. Gods perfect Will
A. Gods perfect Will is unchangeable
a. This would include such things as our life God as a perfect will for our life, to ask God to change His will for our life would be ridicules.
b. That is like a little child thinking he knows more than His parents. Daddy can I go out in the road and play, "No said the Daddy" why because he knows that he could get killed.
c. God knows what is best for us, and we may even pray for a new job, or pray to have a ministry, or pray for money, or things, or even healing, but God knows what is best for us and He won’t change.
d. So even though the scriptures say, (Mark 11:23 KJV) For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. You won’t get it because its beyond the mountain.
B. Bible Examples
1. Joseph: A man that loved God from a small child, had visions from God, and was promised he would be the spiritual leader of Israel.
a. I wonder what he thought when he was thrown in a pit to die by his brothers.
b. How about when he was sold into slavery.
c. Or maybe when he was falsely accused of Potiphar’s wife, and was thrown into the royal prison.
d. Probably if this was us we would have been praying along time ago, Lord get me out of this pit, and when God didn’t answer, we found ourselves praying God get me out of the slavery.
e. Most of us would have been totally depressed by now, and would have really been confused when we got thrown into prison.
f. We might have said God is not answering out prayers, but
GODS HAND WAS IN WHAT WAS GOING ON, HE WAS JUST IN GODS PERFECT WILL. HE WAS GOING THROUGH EXACTLY WHAT GOD WAS ALLOWING IN HIS LIFE FOR A REASON. A REASON HE COULDN’T SEE.
NOW HE COULD OF GOT ALL MAD LIKE WE DO, WHEN GOD DOESNT’ ANSWER LIKE WE THINK HE SHOULD AND START SINNING AND GOING BACK INTO THE WORLD OR BLAMING PEOPLE AROUND US AND TOTALLY MISS OUT ON WHAT GOD IS PLANNING FOR OUR LIVES.
OR WE COULD JUST REALIZE THAT THERE IS AREAS BEYOND THE MOUNTAIN THAT GOD IS GOING TO HANDLE HIS WAY NOT OURS.
2. Job
A. How about Job, I’m sure he didn’t expect to spend that much time beyond the mountain, but he did.
a. He didn’t lose His cool, He didn’t have any temper tantrums, he didn’t lose out with God, He just bared down and got through it.
b. The Bible says God allowed Satan to attack Job.
c. Go to Job 1, page 591
c1. Job was a righteous perfect man the Bible says, but God had a different plan for Job. He was going to prove the faith of man for God through this one individual.
c2. Job could have blamed himself, others, God, reasoned in His mind why this was happening, got down with DESPARE and self pity, but he didn’t.
c3. The Bible says in verse 22, " in all this Job sinned not nor charged God foolishly".
d. You see Job was facing situations beyond the mountains.
e. Job lost everything, but because of His obedience to God, he received much more in return. Gods perfect will in our life will always produce abundance above and beyond anything we could have hoped for.
(Job 42:12 NLT) So the LORD blessed Job in the second half of his life even more than in the beginning. For now he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand teams of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys.
(Job 42:13 NLT) He also gave Job seven more sons and three more daughters.
3. Jesus
A. He even prayed in the garden
(Mat 26:42 NLT) Again he left them and prayed, "My Father! If this cup cannot be taken away until I drink it, your will be done."a. What cup, the cup of all mankind’s sin and suffering.
b. Why should Jesus have to bare our sins our evil.
c. Why should he have to punished for us, because it was Gods perfect Will, and it had to happen to save mankind.
d. Gods perfect will may be painful, may be almost more than we can bare, but we must realize that His perfect will brings the most perfect things into our lives. It shapes us and mold us and brings us to a place that God can use us to carry out His perfect Will.
GODS PERFECT WILL SOMETIMES TAKES US BEYOND THE MOUNTAIN, BUT WE MUST TRUST HIM AND PUT OUR LIVES IN HIS HANDS, AND REALIZE THAT GOD IS IN CONTROL NOT US.
II. Persecutions:
A. Hebrews is full of deliverance and faith and the moving of Gods hand. Many mountains were moved, but what about the mountains that were not moved. You see there is things beyond the mountains that can be moved.
(Heb 11:33 KJV) Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
(Heb 11:34 KJV) Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
(Heb 11:35 KJV) Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
(Heb 11:36 KJV) And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
(Heb 11:37 KJV) They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
(Heb 11:38 KJV) (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.
(Heb 11:39 KJV) And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
(2 Th 1:3 KJV) We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;
(2 Th 1:4 KJV) So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:
(2 Th 1:5 KJV) Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:
(2 Tim 3:12 KJV) Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
(Mat 5:10 KJV) Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
(Mat 5:11 KJV) Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
(Mat 5:12 KJV) Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
(John 15:20 KJV) Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
(John 15:21 KJV) But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.
a. You see sometimes its is Gods will that we are persecuted for Jesus sake. Sometimes we may even die for Christ.
b. Its not just claiming the scripture for Gods blessing and waiting for it, sometimes we go through the persecution.
c. Sometimes persecution is a area beyond the mountain.
d. We need to realize that just cause God doesn’t deliver the way we think he should, doesn’t mean he’s not at work in your crisis, or persecution, He may be heavily involved in your problem, He may be the reason your having your problem, but its to perfect you through the persecution.
(1 Cor 4:9 KJV) For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men.
(1 Cor 4:10 KJV) We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised.
(1 Cor 4:11 KJV) Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace;
(1 Cor 4:12 KJV) And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:
(1 Cor 4:13 KJV) Being defamed, we entreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.
(2 Cor 4:14 KJV) Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.
(2 Cor 4:15 KJV) For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.
(2 Cor 4:16 KJV) For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
(2 Cor 4:17 KJV) For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
(2 Cor 4:18 KJV) While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
III. Salvation
A. God can not move the mountain of salvation out of your life, you must choose Him of your own free will, and serve Him of your own free will. He can not cross that line to force you to come to Him.
a. It is Gods will that you be saved and changed, but if you reject Christ it doesn’t matter how much someone may pray for you, God will not move that mountain and force a individual to come to Him.
b. He may send angels to speak to a persons heart or send people their way to talk to them, he will exhaust every outer influence, but He will never force your will to come to Him.
(1 Pet 4:1 KJV) Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
(1 Pet 4:2 KJV) That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
(1 Pet 4:3 KJV) For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
(1 Pet 4:4 KJV) Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
(1 Pet 4:5 KJV) Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.
(1 Pet 4:6 KJV) For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
c. It is not Gods will that any man should parish but he can not cross over and force man to receive Him.
d. Therefore when we pray for our loved ones to come to Christ this is beyond the mountain, it is a area that God will not answer no matter how much faith we may have. Yes He will do everything outwardly He can do, but it is still the decision of each person to accept Christ or not.
(2 Pet 3:8 KJV) But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
(2 Pet 3:9 KJV) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
(2 Pet 3:10 KJV) But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
(2 Pet 3:11 KJV) Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
IV. Death
A. It is appointed unto man once to die.
(Heb 9:27 KJV) And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
a. Everyone will die at there appointed time if they live according to Gods plan.
b. People can pray all they want to, but if it is Gods will that a person will die they will die.
c. This is another area beyond the mountain.
d. We shouldn’t be angry or blame God, because if we are praying and they die then we know that it was Gods will that they pass away and we should rejoice with them.
CLOSING: GOD PROMISED HE WILL ANSWER, AND HE WILL SUPPLY OUR NEEDS, HE ALSO PROMISES THAT WHAT EVER WE ASK IN HIS NAME HE WILL DO
BUT THERE IS AN AREA BEYOND THE MOUNTAINS, THAT IS A PLACE THAT GOD OPERATES, THAT IS FAR ABOVE OUR UNDERSTANDING OUR COMPREHINSION IN THE SPIRITUAL REALM OF THINGS.
IN THIS AREA BEYOND THE MOUNTAINS, IS WHERE GOD MOLDS AND MAKES US, IT IS WHERE HIS PERFECT WILL FOR ALL OF CREATION IS FORMED, IT IS WERE GOD DWELLS IN ALL OF HIS KNOWLEDGE AND WISDOM TIME AND ETERNITY. IT IS HERE THAT GOD FORMED YOU AND WERE HE WILL KEEP YOU.
LET HIM, DON’T BLAME HIM, DON’T TRY TO FIGURE HIM OUT, JUST LET HIM, HE KNOWS BEST FOR YOU. REJOICE IN HIM FOR HE WILL NEVER DESTROY YOU, BUT ONLY STRENGTHEN, AND REFINE YOUR LIFE IN HIS IMAGE.
