THIS BOOK IS DEDICATED TO
MY FRIEND NAOMI CURETON BURNAMAN
FORWARD
In 1991 one of the dearest and sweetest people I
have ever had the privdledge to know request that I research and
write a family history for her. That woman was known to me as
Naomi. Her given name was Emma Naomi Cureton Burnaman. We were
distantly related and she was aware that genealogy was my passion.
Naomi and I spent many hours together going over dates and names.
She told me stories that at some point I hope to add to another
book that is being compiled on oral family history of Nacogdoches
County.
She was a wealth of information and a joy to be around. I loved
her dearly and she will always hold a very special place in my
heart as a friend and relative; but, most of all as the most
careing and loving person I have ever known.
Through the years I have heard many pastors refere to someone as
a "Godly person", "human person", "good
person" or "Christian woman", I have never known
anyone in my entire life who better fits that phrase than Naomi.
Naomie was truly, in every sence of the word a Christian woman, a
truly good woman.
The last time I saw her, she had asked me to make her a cover for
her Bible. I made a red quilted red cover trimmed in lace with
her initials embrodiered on it, with a special pocket for her to
carry her pens, and long handles to make it easier for her to
carry. She was thrilled when she seen it. She had the nicest
smile and the loveliest personality. Naomie will truly be missed.
