GOD'S PATIENCE

God did not hate the Egyptians. As a baby, the Lord Jesus himself found safety in Egypt. God LOVES men and women from every nation. But Pharaoh and his people were doing wrong in building an empire on the backs of slaves. God HATES sin and he will punish all who sin and persist in wrong doing. But here we learn about God's great PATIENCE with Egypt. Firstly, the Lord WAITED 400 years before punishing the sin of the Egyptians. Secondly, the Lord WARNED Pharaoh that His judgement had come upon Egypt, through a series of TEN plagues or judgements. At any one point, during these judgements, Pharaoh could have REPENTED of his sin and let the slaves go free and the Lord would have SPARED Egypt.

How long has the Lord WAITED for YOU to REPENT of YOUR SIN? Twenty years? Thirty? More?

Have YOU paid any attention at all to the WARNINGS the Lord has brought across YOUR path in life?

The Lord Jesus told some people a story one day. It was about man who had two sons. One day his younger son asked for his share of Dad's money and took off to a foreign country to have a good time. He lived it up and partied, wasted all the cash and was soon broke. His friends took off and he was alone. Then there was a drought and food was scarce. He needed to eat but the only job he could get was feeding pigs. He was so hungry he wanted to eat the pig-food. The boy began to think of home. "I'm going to go back to my Dad and say, 'Sorry,'" he said to himself. "I'll not expect him to take me back as a son, but maybe he'll give me a job as a servant." So he began the journey back.

When he was still a long way off, his father saw him and ran to meet him. He hugged his son and kissed him, dirty and ragged as he was. The boy began to apologise. "Father I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son." But his father said to his servants, "Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Bring a ring and sandals and go and get a special dinner party ready for him. My son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found." So they all began to celebrate.

Our Heavenly Father is very PATIENT. He is WAITING today for YOU to come home! He is, "not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." The boy, in Jesus' story REPENTED and RETURNED to his father. YOU can be like him TODAY!

GOD'S JUDGEMENT

The Lord sent TEN judgements or plagues upon Egypt to WARN Pharaoh to TURN from sin and to let the slaves go free. Pharaoh ignored these warnings and watched the destruction of his economy. One of the judgements was a plague of LOCUSTS. These insects covered the ground until it was black and nothing green remained on tree or plant in all the land of Egypt. In the last book of the Bible, Revelation chapter 9, we read of the judgements that the Lord is going to bring upon the whole earth, because men refuse to REPENT. One of these is a plague of locusts BUT it is far worse than that of Egypt.

"The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle. They had tails and stings like scorpions, and in their tails they had power to torment people for five months. They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek, Apollyon." REVELATION 9.

These are not real locusts but DEMON locusts.. malicious evil spirits from the pit of darkness.. instruments of Satan, Apollyon himself. Reading through Revelation, we find that men bring terrible judgements upon themselves by their refusing to GIVE UP their sin and REPENT. How tragic!

Again can we ask you, "HAVE YOU REPENTED OF YOUR SIN?" If not be WARNED, because GOD will surely JUDGE all sin.

"..unless you repent, you too will all perish." LUKE 13:5

ONLY BY BLOOD

The TENTH and last plague was the worst of all. God told the Israelites to take a LAMB per household, kill it and sprinkle it's BLOOD on the sides and tops of the door frames of the houses. The people were told to stay indoors, for at midnight the LORD would pass through the land to destroy the firstborn sons of Egypt.

"The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are; and when I see the blood I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt." EXODUS 12:13.

Whenever the last terrible judgement fell, every Israelite family sheltering in a house with BLOOD on the door was SAFE. However in every Egyptian home, where there was no BLOOD, there was someone DEAD!

"Pharaoh and all his officials and all the Egyptians got up during the night, and there was loud wailing in Egypt, for there was not a house without someone dead." EXODUS 12:30.

The people of Israel were SAVED by the BLOOD of the lambs. Do you know we can only be SAVED BY BLOOD. We do not have to kill a lamb but we need to be SAVED by the BLOOD of the Lord Jesus Christ, who was the LAMB of GOD killed for us at the CROSS.

"..the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin." 1 JOHN 1:7.

PRAYER.. " Dear Lord Jesus, please wash me from all my sins in Your BLOOD. Amen."
