Ignatius Grantham born 1772 Wayne Co. Georgia. He married 9 October, 1810 in Camden, GA., to Catherine Sheffield daughter of West and Susannah Sherrod Sheffield.
Ignatius and Catherine came to the MS., Territory now Jackson Co. MS. before June 1815 where their West Grantham was born.
Catherine married second 2 November, 1828 Jackson Co. to William Christopher Seaman
The only known child of Ignatius and Catherine Sheffield Grantham is West Sheffield Grantham
West was born 4 June, 1815 Mississippi Territory now Jackson Co. MS. He died 21 September, 1894 in Alvord, TX., Wise Co.
West married Sarah Jane Byrd born 17 March, 1828 Jackson Co. MS., and died 24 February, 1908 in Alvord, TX. Both West and Sarah are buried in Hopewell Church Cemetery in Alvord.
The 1850 Census of Jackson Co. list West as a collier. At least twelve children were born to this couple and all born in Jackson Co. before the family removed to Texas after 1872
