Ohio Genealogy Resources
by Lori Shriver

I started researching Genealogy in 1987 while working at a public library, in Ohio. Since then, I have been studying Genealogy and gathering much documentation on family history. I've found that Ohio is rich in resources for any Genealogist--whether you are just beginning your research or have been at it for years.

Are you searching for a little background history on Ohio?

Ohio entered the Union in 1803 as the 17th state.

Ohio's Capital is Columbus.

Ohio is known as the Buckeye State, nicknamed this because of the many buckeye trees.

The Scarlet Carnation is the official state flower.

Ohio's State Bird is the Cardinal. The Cardinal is beloved bird and is also the chosen state bird of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia

Do you wonder about your family tree? Are you curious about your Ohio ancestors? Below is a small listing of helpful Ohio Genealogy resource links.
