Appreciate the present. We all have dreams: the bigger home, the newer car, "x" amount of children, the college or graduate degree, the "perfect" life.   There is nothing wrong with having dreams and aspirations, infact, it is a good idea to identify what exactly your goals are so you have something to shoot for.  However, it is a shame when your dreams and goals outshadow the present day.  I admit I am guilty of this myself.  I forever find myself thinking, "I can't wait until we have a house", "I can't wait until I am done this degree!", and "I can't wait to have our next baby."  It is not often that I hear myself saying, "I am really content with my life right now."  At one time, some of my goals included finishing my Associates degree, saving money for a new car,  and moving down to Virginia with my husband.  However, I didn't even allow myself the time to appreciate having met my goals before I was solely focusing on new ones.   Acknowledging what you have at the present time is an important step in helping you to reach your future goals for it not only reinforces the path to your destination but also allows you to be happy while making the journey.
