Robert Stanley & Heneretta Ellison

Born 7-7-1836, Monroe Co. VA. Died 1915, Cabell Co. WV.

Robert Stanley was born in Monroe Co. VA. The son of John Stanley and Mary Elizabeth Ellison. Robert came to Cabell Co. around 1837 with Father John Stanley. His mother had probably died in Monroe Co  She was not present in the 1840 Cabell Co VA Census. Robert lived in Cabell until he married Heneretta and the start of the civil war. On 8-9-1862 he enlisted in Catlettsburg KY in Co. F 10th Regt. Kentucky Cav. and was discharged in Sept. 1863. He again enrolled in 1865 in Co. A Regt. Ohio Vol. Inf. and was discharged in same year. The description of him in his Pension was 5ft 11in tall, dark eyes, dark skin and dark hair. From 1865 to 69 the family lived in South Point, Ohio and from then on he lived in the head of Fudges Creek Cabell Co WV. His wife was a School teacher according to some of the decendents. I believe they are burried in the Stanley Cemetery on the property where they lived. There may exist a photo of Heneretta and kids and it is my hope to add this to this page beside of Robert's Ed Knight

Lewis Stanley, b. 10 13 1860, d. 1 23 1861. I am unsure about this child.
