A view from Rude's Hill, Virginia
looking towards Meem's Bottom.
James Thomas Knight, on November 22, 1864 was killed while participating in a calvery charge against the position from where the picture  was taken.
He was a member of the 3rd. WV Cav. Company G.
On that day he and his fellow solders charged up the beautiful field in the picture.
This is where he was killed.
If you will look at the picture and look at the first fence post. Look straight ahead to a small green opening at the end of the field, beyond this is Meems Bottom and beyond the bottom the Covered Bridge with the same name still stands. This bridge and Meems Bottom and up the hill was the path taken on that November day.
We will always remember him,
Ed Knight
