The Narrows - Lake George - September 2006

We had a spectacular weekend with our friends the Johnsons in September. They rented a campsite on one of the islands in the Narrows area of Lake George. This is a pristine place in the Adirondacks. We spent just one night and two lovely days here. We boated, swam, cooked and played with ease. Luckily the September weather was warm and just perfect for our little trip.

It is very fun to get the large boats to blow their whistles. Here is the Morgan from the fancy Sagamore Hotel. We got a nice beep out of here. And - the Adirondack wedged itself right between our island and one nearby. There was a wedding party aboard. We even saw the cake on the upper deck. The men were all in black suits and the ladies all fancied up. What a setting for their special occasion.

You really don't want to know what was going on here. Something having to do with shallow waters, a very large wrench and the guys heading to the marine repair shop with Scott's boat. The women and children were abandoned on a nearby island for a couple of hours. Hey - at least it was warm!!!

Here is a view from the boat towards the narrows where we were camped. And, as with all good things, they usually have to come to and end eventually. Here is the Johnson tent and contents on their way down!
