Ridin' in a REO--In  what is believed to be the first car in Berrien County, Dr. P.H. Askew and Mrs. Delilah Drawdy ride in style in a REO two-seater. Dr. Askew wanted Mrs. Drawdy to be his first passenger in his new car, and when asked if she was afraid to go for a ride in the REO, she replied, "Why should I be? I'll have a doctor driving?"  At the time the photo was taken, around the year 1904, Mrs. Drqwdy was 100 years old. She died three years later. Mrs. Drawdy was the grandmother of Daisy Smith and Flora Roberts, great-grandmother of Talmadge Kent, great-great-great grandmother of Larry and Tony Kent Bennett, all of Berrien County. This "Down Memory Lane" photo is shared with the "Berrien Press," courtesy of Talmadge Kent..

Delilah Hinson Green Drawdy was the mother of Sarah Green, the grandmother of Bessie Cox Bashlor, and the great-grandmother of Brunell Bashlor Barlow, Maxwell Bashlor, Russell Bashlor, and Janette Bashlor Kinsey.
