Yuma Fire Department Muster

Five teams from around the Yuma area competed in this year’s Fire Muster held on Saturday, Feb. 24th. People of all ages came out to have some fun while cheering for their favorite fireman.

All ages could be seen in the concession stand that day, as lots of food and coffee was served up. Special thanks goes to Julie Ott, Manuela Ozuna, Cathy Padilla, Valerie Bird, Lucy Padilla, Carla Waterford and Pam Green for all their hard work.

Our little helpers also deserve a round of applause for their contributions. We had helpers taking the orders, getting the food ready, collecting the money, and cleaning up the messes.

There was not one single complaint about the Nachos not having enough cheese on them. Way to go Jessica and Deanna.

March Auxiliary Meeting

Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, March 7 at 7:00 p.m. It will be held at YFD Station #1. Children are always welcome.

Plans were being made for the Saint Patrick’s Day Block Party, scheduled for Saturday, March 17th. More volunteers are needed to man a food booth. Anyone available to help with this project must contact Cheri
Allen prior to this next meeting.

It was too late to get a booth at the Midnight at the Oasis scheduled for March 9,10, and 11. Anyone knowing of any group needing assistance with their booth at the Oasis or at the County fair, please contact one of the board members.

Battle of the Badges

The Battle of the Badges is scheduled for March 17th at 5:00. The cost for this event is $ 10.00 per person and proceeds go to the Yuma Youth Boxing Association. Representatives from each Law Enforcement and Fire Department Agencies battle it out in three-two minute rounds. The event is held in the Armory Building on First Street and Second Ave. The crowds are big, so go a little early to get good parking and seating!!!

Lynn Light worked hard to update our WebSite (a task I was unable to accomplish). When I chose to work in the medical field, using all the medical terms and equipment could be compared to learning a new language. But even that experience did not prepare me for the challenges of HTML or the effort it takes to tell a computer just what you want it to do. My colorful language !X@L)^/ didn’t help at all.
Thank you Lynn, for all your hard work ! ! !

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!!
