For whatever reason, I made no comment after visiting your site over a year ago. An e-mail to me last week about Bolander information made me revisit another site and yours before answering. Our common ancestors were Stephen Bolender/Margreta Schenckel. My direct lines are their son, John/Elizabeth Fronk and their dau. Mary Polly/Joseph Haffield (my 2great grandparents)I grew up in Indianapolis with no knowledge whatsoever about the Bolander name. I attended a reunion in Indpls. several years ago after my Aunt saw it in the paper, but for various reasons have not been able to come since. I did not get a card about last year's but my cousin who also attended that time, received one. If you are involved with the reunion, would you please put me back on he list? WOW, alot more entries. I found my grandfather's birth name was not charles but Karl Julius and my g'grandfathers was frederick julius bolender. Karl b. 12-17-1878 d. 8-71. m barbara eichler 11-8-05. lived in NY. karl's sister Jenny b. 4-17-1881. dad is john fred. bolender b.10-22-17 living. any help in finding direct lineage will I will be greatful.

Hello Merrill, My husband, Paul, is a descendant of Stephen Bolander and Margaret Shinkle through their daughter Catherine's marriage to Christian "Christy" Apple and their son Henry Apple. He is also connected to the Shinkles through Henry Apple's son Amos, who married Eliza Huston. Eliza was the daughter of Barbara Shinkle and Joshua Huston and the granddaughter of Hans Philip Schenkel who was the brother-in-law of Stephen Bolender. You have a very understandable website.
