TOURISM IN MY STATE
Under the aegis of the Department of tourism and Kerala state Tourism Development Corporation, many places in kerala have been developed into tourist centres. Kerala is state which has notified tourism as an industry. Thiruvananthapuram the capital of the state is an abode of temples, mosques and churches. Kovalam Beach Resort is just 12KM away, Veli(8KM), Neyyar Dam(19KM) and Ponmudi(61KM) are other places of interest. Periyar Wild life sanctuary at Thekkady in idukki district is another atraction. Sabarimala, abode of the Lord Ayyappan, is a famous pilgrim centre in pathanamthitta district. Kochi(cochin) the major port of kerala is known as 'Queen of the Arabian Sea'.beautiful Willingdon island with the adjoining port is a great attraction.Kalady in eranakulam district is the birthplace of Sri Sankaracharya.Guruvayur in thrissur district has the famous Lord Krishna shrine. Kalamandalam, the renowned Kathakali Centre is in Thrissur district.
