Genealogists Diary

  • December 1998 Well, that was 98 then! What are my resolutions for next year?
      1. I will spend more time working on Mary's side of the family.
      2. I will write back to everyone who writes with a query. Even the ones who just say "My family were Scottish and came to America / NewZealand / the foothills of the Himalays over a hundred years ago. Where did they come from?
      3. I will even get back to the ones that say "I know my family were from the Borders because their name was Scott".
      4. I will stop terrorising elderly relatives by interogating them about their family, schooldays, work, military service, what shops they went to, where they went courting etc etc etc.
      5. I will spend at least one day a month at Edinburgh, or the Mitchell, or Dumfries Archives transcribing material.
      6. I will finish transcribing the Burials Records for Dalton Parish (HONEST SANDY!)
    That'll do for a start!
