MY GRAHAM FAMILY TREE
When I was a child my hero's were Roy Rogers, Hopalong Cassady, The Cisco Kid and my father. But not in that order. My father was always my knight in shinning armor. He took me everywhere with him. Even to the Army base where he was stationed. I guess I was what you call an Army brat.
My father was born on the same farm his gr-grandfather, James E. Graham, had purchased before the civil war. Their home was a large 2 story farm house located across from the church in Goshen Twp., Clearfield County, PA. He joined the service right after high school and had nearly 20 years in when he was transferred to Camp White, Oregon.
Here he met my mother and after a breif whirlwind courtship they were married. They had a very stormy relationship. My Mother had beautiful fire red hair, and an Irish temper to go with it. But my dad seemed to have a way of calming her down and making her laugh.
In 1948 my dad received orders to report to a base in Texas. When he came home and announced the news to my mother he was met with total silence. Then, there came such an explosion like I hope to never see again. In the end my mother refused to go. I never saw my father again. He died of cancer in 1952.
