This is the poll which I began this site with. The results show that only 17 persons ( out of 854 that visited my page during that period ) gave their opinion about this. Remember this is being constructed by YOU, so please, VOTE !!!!!!

" Chaplin : The Musical "... it sounds interesting.

As you can see, the majority of the people who voted think that converting " Chaplin " into a play is a good idea. The problem is : they want to see it ONLY if the original cast performs in it. Wow ! Seeing all and each one of the actors on a theater stage would be great... but almost impossible.

Let´s think a little bit about this. First of all, nobody knows if the actors really liked to be in the movie... or perhaps they didn´t like the persons he/she worked with. Nobody knows.

Now , let´s analize the situation of some of the performers in the movie :

ROBERT DOWNEY JR. ----- That´s a dream... almost impossible. More than one person think Downey´s performance in Chaplin was brilliant ( including me ), but we´ve got to see the multiple problems he has had since he played this role : drug addiction, arrested for gun possesion, etc. Perhaps he wouldn´t like to perform live 6 or 7 times a week, and believe me, that´s shoking if it is the first time. But.. we´ve also got to recognise his ability to sing and compose... I don´t know, perhaps he could write some of the music scores, in order to make him more comfortable.

ANTHONY HOPKINS ------ Ha ! This academy award winning actor would never work in Chaplin Play with such a short and insignificant character, would he ?

MARISA TOMEI ------ Perhaps... we know her career hasn´t been a complete success, but she has had some good roles ( like Mabel Normand, for instance ), so we cannot afirm she wouldn´t act in a Broadway Play.

KEVIN KLINE ------ Sure ! He began his career in theatre and he has continued taking part of some important plays ( Ivanov, for example. )

DAN AYKROYD ------ Personally, I don´t think he´s a theatrical person. He´s great in his movies, but I don´t think he would accept to work again with the same role.

GERALDINE CHAPLIN ----- I don´t see the reason that would deny her to play her grandmother´s role again.

BUT, ( yes, I know ), there are other problems.... would the actors sing ? / would Chaplin company ( Bubbles, Inc. ) give their permission to make another artistic bio of him ? / who would direct it ? / how much money would they need ?......

It seems there will be a long time before we can see Chaplin on a theatrical stage.
