Loving the Charles Laughton film I thought this was going to be a farce
but five minutes in I was loving it! The slide down the gutter
when the whole cathedral revolves in perspective during the pan blew me away.
Okay have reservations about the gargoyles but nothing's perfect!
The Aristocats represents the lowest ebb of Disney feature animation
in my opinion. There is just one multi-plane shot, the perspective on the train doesn't alter.
'Everybody wants to be a cat'is dire. There is one sequence where Edgar rides out on his motorbike which has some wit
and skill in it. I didn't return to Disney features for 19 years when 'The Little Mermaid' came along
and later 'Beauty and the Beast' and the joyous 'Aladdin' owing much to Alexander Korda's 'The Thief of Baghdad'
I don't know what Ursula from 'The Little Mermaid' is clutching
but it makes my eyes water!
