When Mitchell proposed to Susan, his mom planned a party. Being
a good mother, she was determined to make everything perfect, even if it
killed her. Unfortunately--it did.
After the funeral, Mitchell becomes a recluse, pushing away his fiancée,
family and friends. He grieves alone with one of the last things his
mom had touched--a purple balloon leftover from the party. Aside from
that, he's inconsolable. That is, until his mom returns.
She explains to him that her breath is caught in the balloon, and she can't
finish dying until he pops it. In fact, he's got to pop it by week's
end, or she'll have to walk the Earth as a poltergeist for eternity.
The problem is that Mitchell doesn't want to let her go. Other problems
soon arise, because though his mom is undead--she's still a mom, after all.
