"Love"
"Lost in Space"
"Dear John"
Adoration
Binds us,
Controls us,
Dares us to light an
Eternal
Flame. It
Grows in us. We
Hide it
In fear of
Jealousy
Killing our
Love. It can’t be
Measured in
Numbers, but in
Our affection and our
Passion. Love may start as a
Quiet whisper, but it never
Recedes. Love
Shows us,
Tells us to conquer all, yet we don’t
Understand it. Love runs through our
Veins. Love is a feeling unlike others.
We wish to find that
X-tra special person in our life,
Yet sometimes our
Zealous ways lead to the loss of love.
What is wrong with our world today?
There are teens having babies and runaways.
We have drugs in our world and crime on the street,
And we can’t go a day without a child getting beat.
There are murders and rapes.
Why is there such hate?
We must learn to live with each other
Like sister to sister, brother to brother.
Until we do, we will have to live
With violence and crime, and so will our kids.
Our future depends on our actions today.
If we damage our world, our children must pay.
Our mistakes and our wrongs they must set right.
Their victories may end this constant fight.
But, the way we are headed, we will never win
This ongoing war which has sucked us in.
People will continue to die in vain,
And others will be hurt; it’s completely insane!
Until we learn to put crime in its place,
We are simply a world living lost in space.
A peaceful man through all your years,
We can’t stop our eyes flooding with tears.
A bullet took your life away,
Yet in our hearts you shall forever stay.
You loved all people for who they were.
We can’t forget you, that’s for sure.
You left behind a wife and son.
What a tragedy caused by a gun!
All you wanted was to write some songs
About peace and love, is that so wrong?
Some of your songs made us want to dance,
While others helped "Give Peace a Chance."
You now live in a much better place.
It’s filled with happiness, filled with grace.
Your physical being has long since died,
However, your spirit remains alive.
You live in people who also see
How pointless war is, people like me.
Though I’ve never met you, I love what you say.
I can listen to your songs, night or day.
I can keep writing, going on and on,
But I’ll take this time to say, "Good-bye, Dear John."
