Mission...
The group's goals are to help women who suffer with this painful disease and to help their families, especially the men in their lives, understand how they are suffering. The Endometriosis Support Group of St. Augustine offers information on the symptoms and other related diseases that run hand and hand with Endometriosis. We also have information on standard and alternative treatments, emotional support, as well as a crisis hot line when you just need someone to talk to.
Do not feel as if you are alone -- you are not alone.
Together we can help each other cope.
Endometriosis...
Endometriosis is a disease primarily of the female reproductive system that is often misdiagnosed, and the result of a misdiagnosis can have devastating consequences to the sufferer. It is estimated that 5 to 12 million women of reproductive age suffer with endometriosis. The disease effects women of all races and socioeconomic groups, starting in their teenage years through middle age. 47% of women diagnosed with endometriosis had symptoms before the age of 20.
Endo & Interstitial Cystitis (IC)...
The symptoms of endometriosis can be similar to those of Interstitial Cystitis. The possibility of bladder endometriosis should be considered in patients with symptoms of interstitial cystitis because 'menstrual dysuria' (difficult urination menstrually) occurs in both conditions.
