I think this is a good time for an update. Rhonda is about 27 days post-op and down about 25 lbs. I have never seen her happier. And of course that makes me happy. We are still trying to make adjustments. For one thing she is still on puree foods, and that makes it difficult to plan meals. It is just Rhonda, the dog and myself, so that makes it like cooking for one. If you have ever lived alone you know how difficult that can be. Prior to the surgery, Rhonda and I used to go out to dinner every Saturday night. That was just something we did. Well, of course that changed, until last night. When I got home from work yesterday she met me at the door and ask if I wanted to go out and get something to eat. Of course my first reaction was. What are you going to eat? We went out and I ordered steak and shrimp and she had a baked potato with a glass of tea. She has really done well as far as being able to eat some things that are not exactly liquid. It was pretty awkward eating in front of her. It is bad enough at home much less in a restaurant. On top of that, the waitress kept insisting she should have something else. She just could not accept all my wife wanted was a baked potato. All in all it was a good experience. It was the first time we had been out since the surgery. It really felt good. Rhonda confessed to me last night that everything was better since the surgery. Even sex. I think the sex has to do with her new feeling of self worth. It is to bad that society has convinced women that there sexuality and over all self worth is directly related to the dress size. I guess if it weren't for that attitude, this type of surgery would be much more rare. I'll get off of my soap box now. I can not cure the ills of society, I can only try to help my wife reach her goal.
