What is WINC? (WINC is open to alumni of Columbia School of Publie Health and their friends and families - e-mail WINC) WINC is a monthly dinner group which developed out of the monthly dinner meetings held by the 1997-98 Student Government Association of Columbia School of Public Health.  The monthly planning meetings were held at Coogan's Restaurant in Washington Heights, New York which was conveniently located near the school. The food at Coogan's, however, was not quite up to the tastes of all the officers (one in particular!).  In celebration of our escape from the confines of Coogan's, we meet monthly at restaurants throughout Manhattan in an endless search for excellent dining experiences (and the ultimate cocktail...).  These meetings also allow the group to keep current on the new and exciting events in each other's lives.

Our last meal was... GREAT!  Virot has some womderful dishes and their sauces are to die for.  Strong recommendations for the White and Green Asparagus, the Fois Gras, Squab, Lobster, and fish specialties.  I was disappointed by the Seared Scallops, which were overcooked and rubbery.  The veal was also overcooked and lacked any flavor or richness.  The desserts, however, make up for all.  Hazelnut souffle had Girlie swooning (no small feat!).  We recommend shortening the menu a bit...too many selections for mere mortal diners to choose from.
