Network Manager and Lecturer

  • Hardware and software acquisition, configuration and maintenance of the College computer equipment and running of the laboratories – including networking on Windows NT4.0 Server with Windows95/98, networked printing devices and internet installations. Hardware platforms are mainly Compaq PCs, Dell, Fujitech and ICLs.
  • Configuration and maintenance of hubs, switches, routers (Cabletron), VLANs and documentation of LANs.
  • Reviewing and developing policies for the college's IT infrastructure
  • Providing help-desk/support to staff and student users and supervising help-desk staff.

  • Maintenance of the university’s student laboratory Novell 3.11 (100 user) network; troubleshooting and diagnosing hardware and software problems and carrying out necessary repairs where appropriate. The laboratory was a bus network running on coaxial cabling.
