By the intent of its founders and by the mandate of its corporate declaration, the University of San Diego is a private, independent and Roman Catholic institution providing higher American education within a pluralistic Academia system. The vision that has inspired the University of San Diego for decades proffers that "USD was founded to be a place where people are important, where academic excellence is pursued, where the liberal arts tradition remains vibrant, where there is priority on strong teaching." (Engstrand and White, 1989)
Denis-Martin was granted admission to the University of San Diego on March 16, 1993. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in International Relations, Cum Laude, four years later on May 25, 1997.
