The Story Behind My SS
The Story starts as I was on lunch break, I was at a BP station waiting for my food to be ready when I saw a Auto Shopper magizine so I walked over and picked it up. After looking through it I found the car i have always want a Monte Carlo SS. After reading the description I my my mind up to call the number. When I called about the car i also asked when would be the best time to come and see it, so we made a appointment for December 20th 1998. So when I got to the guy's house after driving for three hours we saw the car. As soon as I saw it I wanted it because I wanted a car to fix up. I had noticed that the doors needed to be lined uo again, one t-top was broken, the corner of the front clip was cracked and it had minor rust on it. The guy said that he put new spark plugs in it, which I later found out was not true. He also said that the car had sat for three years with a tarp over it. So we made him a offer of $1300 and free delivery because he had a flatbed truck (because he was a redneck). So he delivered it after I got back from florida for christmas on Janurary 2nd 1999.

As soon as I got the car I took some pictures of my car then i put it in the garage to open up the hood to start working on it. Well it turns out the hood release cable was seized so i couldn't open up the hood. So instead i started cleaning up the interior so it took out all the seats and the center console. I couldn't believe how much junk was in the car i found legos, wrappers, money, hay, and gunshells. The next day i got under it to look at it then after several hours i finally got it open. Then the next step was to clean out the frame of salt and dirt then rust proof it. While doing this process i noticed a few holes so i fix them with fiberglass. Then i tried to replaced the spark plugs which two were rusted in the head so much i broke them off inside so i had to remove them. The next step was to take off the wheels, on every wheel i could get the lug nuts off but i couldn't get the wheel off because they were rusted on so bad. I finally got them off with penetrating oil and a nice big hammer with a rag on it so i didn't ruin the rim to much. As you can see this was a last resort because the wheel puller i borrowed didn't work. After i finally got them all of i replaced the brakes and the brake drums because they were rusted so bad.
